About Me

My photo
I am a 29 year old teacher of fourth grade. My husband and I began TTC in March of 2008. We conceived our first month, but unfortunately it only ended in an early miscarriage. 8 months later we finally conceived again, and she was our take-home baby! Norah Jane was born on July 16, 2009. 7lbs 0oz 19" long and amazing. We recently had our sweet baby boy, Miles! He was born on June 12, 2013 at 3:37pm, weighing in at 8lbs 4oz, 20 inches long, and PERFECT! We are loving every minute of parenthood (even the frustrating minutes!). This blog is an attempt to chronicle the baby steps, foot steps, leaps, bounds, and milestones of this journey.

She's trying!

Today right before we left the house for church, Norah was playing on the floor. I was sitting beside her and put her on her tummy to practice trying to crawl. Well, I mildly helped her onto her knees. Usually when I do that she immediately pushes them back out to her side and gives up. Well, today, she acutally kept them there, picked up her belly off of the ground, and started rocking back and forth! She's trying! Yay! I'm hoping that we will have a crawler soon!

Tummy Troubles.

Norah isn't feeling well these days. Poor baby. It started yesterday. She was totally fine, then when I went to change her for bed, she just threw up hard... I mean hard. She paused, then did it again, then paused again and threw up hard again. Each time throw up came streaming out of her nose...it was awful. It was horrible to watch. The only thing I could do while she was vomitting was to lean her forward so she wouldn't choke.
I immediately screamed at one of our youth group girls that was over here to run and get H. He was up here faster than I could have imagined. We both cleaned her up and called the pediatrician. She told me that there's a stomach bug going around, and that that was most likely what it was since she had also had diarrhea like crazy during the daytime. Poor thing.

Today she's been a little bit better. I took her to the doctor to make sure she didn't have any ear infections. She didn't..whew! She spit up three times today, which is so strange for her. Norah has never been a spit up type of baby. Aside of today, she's maybe spit up five times since she's been born. She also had another major blow out... I mean major. I had to cut off her onesie. It was awful. I had to immediately put her in the bath because of how nasty she was. I also had my Target bunny ears sitting on the counter, so I grasped the opportunity. :)

Other than the occasional diarrhea, she seems to be fine. She plays like crazy, laughs like crazy, and is eating ok. I just want her to feel 100% better. She's too pretty to be sick. :(

In crawling news, she tried so so so hard to get her knees up under her today, and she actually made progress. For the first time that I've seen, she got her tummy off of the ground a bit. It's crazy how much she can get around though for only being able to move in circles. I'm impressed. :) H took her today and put her feet on his to help her "walk." It's absolutely adorable. He loves her like crazy. :)

I want to get back to blogging!

Ok, so it's been four months since my last post, but I'm starting to feel the need to get back into blogging. I loved blogging while I was pregnant... probably because I had time. Now that sweet baby girl is here, it is much more difficult to blog, but I still think it is just as important. I love love love looking back and seeing how things were and how far we've come, and I know I'll want to continue to do that. So here goes... more baby steps.

So Norah... Norah, Norah, Norah... :) She's amazing. She's everything in our life, and I cannot even begin to explain how empty life would seem without her. I love her so much more than I ever comprehended was possible. She's absolutely incredible.

She's eight months old in a few days, which is CRAZY. I honeslty can't believe time is flying by like this. She was so little so soon ago. Now she's so big! I have no clue how much she weighs, but I'm guessing around 22lbs. I had a dream the other night that she was 27lbs, which would mean that she's far above the 95th percentile. Hopefully she's not.

Here are her SIX MONTH stats: (keep in mind this was two months ago)

Height: 25 inches (23rd percentile)

Weight: 16 lbs 2oz (52nd percentile)

Head: 44cm (sigh... 92nd percentile...lol) We just keep telling ourselves that she's got a big brain!

I am anxious for her 9 month appointment to see where she falls on the growth charts now.

In other news, she can sit up completely on her own for loooong periods of time. I was told that she was supposed to be able to sit up by six months. About two days before six months she started to do it, which paniced me because I was sure we wouldn't hit that milestone before her appointment... but we did! :)

Now crawling on the other hand is something that constantly keeps me worried. I am so afraid that she's falling behind no matter how many times I read and am told, "all babies develop at different rates." She's trying to get her legs up under her, but so far in vain. She does turn in a circle though, which is ADORABLE.

In food news, she's been on solids since about five months. She loves rice cereal and baby oatmeal, but she also has other likes. She loves a lot of baby purees, especially sweet potatoes and squash, and a lot of the fruits. She hates bananas though, fresh and baby food, which is strange. She LOVES canteloupe (fresh of course), and she loves loves love tomatoes. I recently read that you shouldn't give tomatoes to babies under ten months, which I did not know, so I am definitely limiting them... but seriously, look... she loves them.

I am trying to feed her as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible. Some she loves, some she hates. I am trying to feed her a few single ingredient table foods here and there, but she makes a face like i'm trying to kill her when I do. Last night I tried to give her mashed potatoes, but you would have thought that with all of the gagging and carrying on, that I was trying to give her straight lemon juice. Such a funny girl.

Norah has such a wonderful personality. She's loud (playfully), she doesn't cry a whole lot, she's gorgeous...:) She loves looking at herself in the mirror, which is too cute. She laughs and screams. She loves looking at Oliver, our dog. She thinks he's the funniest thing on the planet. She loves her jumper, but we don't put her in it everyday... no bow legs for her! (j/k).

Daycare is going well too. She has a bunch of friends there that she loves. She loves a girl named Kayleigh and a boy named Aiden. She laughs with them and tries to eat their shirts. It's so cute when I pick her up and she's playing with them. Love it.

Ok, that's it for now. I'll try to update more and more. And now to leave you with some photos. :)
