About Me

My photo
I am a 29 year old teacher of fourth grade. My husband and I began TTC in March of 2008. We conceived our first month, but unfortunately it only ended in an early miscarriage. 8 months later we finally conceived again, and she was our take-home baby! Norah Jane was born on July 16, 2009. 7lbs 0oz 19" long and amazing. We recently had our sweet baby boy, Miles! He was born on June 12, 2013 at 3:37pm, weighing in at 8lbs 4oz, 20 inches long, and PERFECT! We are loving every minute of parenthood (even the frustrating minutes!). This blog is an attempt to chronicle the baby steps, foot steps, leaps, bounds, and milestones of this journey.

Cousins!

I have 2 sister-in-laws. My older one has two sons, and the younger one has a daughter. Well, the one with the daughter asked if her daughter could stay the night with the older one. She said yes, then invited Norah, too! So my sister in law has 2 four year olds, a 3 year old, and a six year old tonight. CRAZY!

She sent me pictures, though, and it looks like she's having SO much fun! I had such a poor relationship with nearly all of my cousins growing up, so I am very happy that Norah is having a great relationship with ALL of her cousins! She especially adores Kinley. Kinley was born one year and 8 days before Norah. I remember going to the hospital to see her when she was born. I was so envious that Amanda had a baby. I was very, very happy for her, but also slightly jealous. We were TTC at the time, and we had been unsuccessful to that point, which I think was about 5 months. We got pregnant with Norah a few months later, though, and these two are so close. I love them. :)

They look SO alike!

$1500 richer this morning!

When we bought this house, it came with an enormous, beautiful sauna. I was really excited about it, but then realized that I would never use it while I had a 3 year old in my house. Also, apparently they suck up energy like crazy-bad, so we decided to sell it. I listed it on Craigslist, thinking no one would want to buy it in the summer. Well, a man whose wife had cancer, is into all of the detoxing things, so he bought it for her. He even had a friend with a tow truck thing to haul it. So he bought it... For a cool $1500. In the words of my husband, we just got $1500 for a wooden box to be moved off of our land! :)

Of course the $1500 is going to go to something useful. We are going to pay $1000 for the honda we just bought, which will then be paid in full! :)

My summer is gone...

My principal asked me to go to a three day training the week before we are supposed to go back. School started back extra early this year...

Happy 3rd Birthday, Baby Girl!

Today was Norah's actual birthday. I know we already had a party for her two days ago, but I didn't want to just skip over the day like it was nothing special. I am a BIG birthday person for my child. There's just something about one day that is devoted to you. I think it is a very special day that should be remembered, so I set out to make this one memorable (well, as memorable as possible for a 3 year old).

My idea came to me at about 7pm last night...the night before her birthday. Nothing like waiting until the last minute! Anyway, I decided to take her on a Blue's Clue's Birthday Hunt.

The jist: She found clues that told her where we were going to go next.
The longer version: After I made a silly face pancake for her for breakfast, I explained to her what we were going to do, then she went and found her first clue in our front room. The clues were in white envelopes with Blue's paw print on them. Inside was a picture of where we were going to go.

I picked her 5 favorite places in Nashville:
Clue #1 Chuck E. Cheese
Clue #2 Toys-r-us
Clue #3 Sweet Cece's
Clue #4 Aquarium Restaurant (we'd never been there, but she LOVES aquariums)
Clue #5 Cumberland Park Foutains

After we played at Chuck E. Cheese, she found the next clue on the drum stand of the chef in the animatronic area. She screamed, "Mama!!! A Clue, a CLUE!!!!!" She was so happy. So of course that clue told us where we were going next, and so on.

The whole day was amazing. It was such a happy day. Norah could not stop talking about how much fun she was having and about how she couldn't wait to find the next clue. Anyway, here's the day in pictures:

Monster Party was a SUCCESS!! (Very picture heavy!)

Another birthday party in the books... Norah's monster themed birthday party was a complete success. It rained like crazy, but that's ok, because it was inside! It was a good, old-fashioned, at home party. I am way too exhausted to blog about it right now, but here are some pictures. It was so great. :)
